The Tricycle has an unparallel reputation for presenting plays reflecting the cultural diversity of its neighbourhood: in particular Black, Irish, Jewish, Asian and South African works, as well as responding to contemporary events with its groundbreaking Tribunal Plays.
In addition the Tricycle provides one of the largest education programmes of any London theatre, opening up the arts to children and young people aged 18 months – 16 yrs (regardless of economic, cultural or social background), through its theatre performances, weekly workshops, and half-term and school holiday creative workshops.
The Tricycle also runs a Social Inclusion Programme for thousands of children, including refugee & asylum seeker groups and Pupil Referral Units, providing access to free arts-based activities, and it runs a Young Artists Group, a Youth Theatre Group, and a Jewish/Muslim Group as well as Responsibility Awareness Projects.
The Tricycle’s income is currently derived as follows: 51% box office & earned income, and 28% from Arts Council England, and 11% from Brent & London Councils. This leaves 10% - £300,000, to be raised through charitable donations, events and corporate sponsorship, which means we are constantly pedalling up hill rather than free-wheeling down it!
The generosity of our supporters is vital to ensuring that our work continues, so we hope you will join them, and us today.
