    Evita For President

    EVITA FOR PRESIDENT

“Sharply written script and engaging manner.” Metro
“Probably the most politically incorrect play you have ever seen.” iafrica.com
Master satirist Pieter-Dirk Uys returns to the Tricycle Theatre with Evita For President.

Although the General Election is still two years away, the African National Congress will vote in a new President of the Party at the end of 2007 and the question on most South Africans’ minds is: who will be the next President to follow in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki? As the succession battle heats up Pieter-Dirk Uys offers a new candidate, Mrs Evita Bezuidenhout, who might eventually be the only choice for President.

Could the most famous white woman in South Africa now allow herself to be convinced to pick up the reigns and take her people into the next phase of their lives? She holds the ultimate weapon of mass destraction: humour.

“His ode to South Africa… a love letter from the depths of a heart that understands South Africa, its people and issues so well.” ★★★★★ Cape Argus
