About Us
Age of Extremes
As part of our push to promote new cinema and inspire debate, we’re looking forward to screening the World Premiere of Rice N’ Peas’ latest documentary.
The film follows an array of British Muslims from different socio-cultural backgrounds and viewpoints, discussing the former U.S. ‘War on Terror’ and the implications it has had on British Muslims and community cohesion.
Focusing on the period between September 11th, 2001 – 2009 the film attempts to make sense of some of the factors that may have lead to the radicalisation of some young British Muslims, exploring the media representation of the threat posed by ‘fundamentalists’, the public’s response, and the legislative steps taken by the government to combat Islamic radicalism. The documentary also considers the role of women in Islam and the contentious debate surounding wearing the niqab/hijab.
