Take Refuge
For the first time ever, the Tricycle Theatre, Salusbury WORLD, Granville Plus Youth Arts Centre, Capital City Academy and Kilburn Library are collaborating on a diverse programme of creative, educational and celebratory activities for Refugee Week.
MONDAY 14 JUNE
FANTASY LIVES, PRIVATE VIEW, 4 - 6PM
VENUE: TRICYCLE THEATRE, BALDWIN STUDIO
Photography exhibition looking at the ‘everyday’ and the ‘fantasy’ by Capital City Academy students from around the world. Admission: Free
TUESDAY 15 JUNE
DEFINE REFUGE, 2PM VENUE: TRICYCLE THEATRE
Drama performances by College of North West London ESOL students, exploring the theme of ‘refuge’. As well as music performances by ‘Ewasere’, the Salusbury School drummers. Food and drink will be provided after the event. Admission: Free - seats should be reserved with the Box Office.
THURSDAY 17 JUNE
KILBURN LIBRARY, 2PM
‘Garden of Refuge’ grand opening at Kilburn Library. Featuring artwork displayed in the garden by Salusbury School students.. Admission: Free.
TRICYCLE SINGERS, 7 - 7.30PM
VENUE: TRICYCLE GALLERY
The Tricycle singers will perform a medley of cover songs by refugee singers including: Bob Marley, Wyclef Jean and more. Admission: Free.
REBUILDING HOPE, 8PM
VENUE: TRICYCLE CINEMA
Rebuilding Hope is a documentary film about three young Sudanese refugees on their first homecoming trip back to Sudan - to find their families, understand the situation on the ground in South Sudan, and seek to rebuild their country, devastated by decades of civil war. Followed by a Q&A. Admission: £10 / £8.
FRIDAY 18 JUNE
ANIMATION SCREENING, 1PM
VENUE: TRICYCLE CINEMA
Screenings of animations by children from the Salusbury WORLD Refugee Centre. Also see the premier of ‘Think Twice’ a short film made by years 8 & 9 Capital City Academy pupils. Admission: Free - seats should be reserved with the Box Office.
TAKE REFUGE CELEBRATION EVENT, 6PM - 8.30PM
VENUE: GRANVILLE PLUS YOUTH ARTS CENTRE
Family event hosted by comic and rap artist Doc Brown celebrating the work of young people through dance, music and drama performances.
