Peter Stapleton
In association with the Boundary Gallery

Stapleton’s paintings are in a hyper-realist style and some of them are inspired by the fourteen years the artist spent in prison, a setting where Stapleton began to study art and found beauty in the most unlikely places. Choosing motifs from bleak corridors and polished floors, his subject matter is drastically contrasted by the use of strong colours, suggesting a positive approach to life ahead.
Through prison, Stapleton, now 43 years old, was given the opportunity to complete a BA in Fine Arts at Stafford University, where his final diploma show sold out. He was nominated to participate in the Boundary Gallery Figurative Art Prize Project in 2007 and was awarded with a prize for his work. Stapleton’s work has also won the Open College of Art exhibition award.
